Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the LingDojo mobile application (the "App"), its online services, and lingdojo.net, operated by LingDojo ("we", "us"). By using these services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use them. OurPrivacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.

1. Accounts

• You must be at least 13 and meet any higher minimum age required where you live. If you are below the age of legal majority, you need a parent or guardian's permission.
• You must provide a valid email address or sign in with Apple to create an account.
• Provide accurate account information, keep your credentials secure, and contact us if you suspect unauthorized access.
• You may delete your account in Settings → Account → Delete account, or request help athello@lingdojo.net. Confirmed deletion permanently removes your account and learning progress from our live application database. The Privacy Policy explains retained billing and other records. Deletion does not cancel a store subscription.

2. The App

• LingDojo supports English, German, French, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese with vocabulary practice, spaced repetition, and dictionary lookup. Content and feature coverage can differ by language.
• An internet connection is required for practice and server-backed content. Our servers select questions, grade answers, and save progress. An answer is saved only when the server confirms it; a failed or interrupted request is not confirmation.
• Practice is continuous and self-paced. Daily goals are measured in minutes and do not impose a session time limit. Practice may pause when hearts are depleted, connectivity is lost, or no eligible material is ready.
• We may correct content and change available features or languages. We will provide notice of material changes where required and respect your rights concerning paid services. We do not guarantee a particular learning result.

3. Subscriptions (LingDojo Hero)

• LingDojo Hero is an optional paid subscription that provides unlimited hearts while active. Free accounts have five hearts shared across all learning languages. Each incorrect answer, including revealing an answer, uses one heart. The first heart lost starts a one-hour timer; all five refill when it ends. Later mistakes do not restart that timer. Hero does not bypass learning prerequisites or the internet requirement.
• The purchase screen and store confirmation show the available plan, local price, billing period, and any trial or introductory offer before you subscribe. Payment is charged to the store account used for purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled under the store's rules. For App Store subscriptions, cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends to avoid renewal; renewal may be charged within the final 24 hours.
• You can manage and cancel your subscription in your store account settings. Paid access normally continues until the current billing period ends. Uninstalling the app, signing out, or deleting your LingDojo account does not stop renewal. Purchase restoration is available through the app, subject to store verification.
• A trial, if offered and available to you, converts to the paid plan shown at purchase unless canceled before the store's cancellation deadline. Trial duration and eligibility are determined by the store and displayed before purchase. Canceling a trial may end trial access immediately, depending on the store's rules.
• Refund requests are handled under the purchasing store's policies and applicable law. For App Store purchases, visit reportaproblem.apple.com. Nothing in these Terms limits a refund or cancellation right you have under consumer law.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App, except where this restriction is prohibited by applicable law;
• use the App to violate any applicable law or the rights of others;
• abuse or disrupt the service, access another person's account, bypass access controls, manipulate learning or purchase records, or conduct unauthorized bulk scraping.

We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to address a breach, fraud, or a security risk. Contacthello@lingdojo.netif you believe a restriction is mistaken. This does not automatically cancel an app-store subscription or remove your statutory rights.

5. Intellectual property

• The App, brand, design, and original materials belong to LingDojo or its licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service for your own learning, subject to these Terms.
• Third-party dictionary data, audio, software, and other materials remain subject to their owners' rights and applicable licenses. These Terms do not override rights granted to you by those licenses.

6. Disclaimers

The App is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the curriculum will meet your specific learning goals.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LingDojo will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us (if any) in the 12 months before the claim.

These exclusions and limits apply only where permitted by law. They do not exclude liability for fraud, willful misconduct, or any liability or consumer remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

8. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the change. For material changes, we will notify you in the App where required by law. Continued use of the App after the change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

9. Disputes and consumer rights

Please contact us first so we can try to resolve a concern. Applicable law determines the law and courts with jurisdiction over a dispute. Nothing in these Terms takes away mandatory consumer protections, your right to contact a regulator, or any right to bring a claim in the courts where you live.
