Privacy Policy

LingDojo ("we", "us") is responsible for the personal information described in this Policy. It explains how we handle information when you use the LingDojo app, its online services, and lingdojo.net, and how to contact us about your privacy. Our contact email ishello@lingdojo.net.

What we collect

When you create an account, we collect the information needed to sign you in and keep your progress synced across your devices:

• Account information. Your email address, account identifier, profile or display name, and sign-in information. Passwords are stored as hashes. If you use Sign in with Apple, we process Apple's account identifier, identity token, and the information Apple shares, which may include a private relay email address. We also store login sessions and email-verification status.
• Learning activity and preferences. The languages you study, interface and translation languages, daily minute goal, issued questions, submitted answers (including text you enter), grading results, review schedules, hearts, study duration, timestamps, and time zone. Progress is associated with your account and each learning language.
• Purchase information. Your subscription status, product and transaction identifiers, purchase and expiration dates, and purchase, renewal, refund, or transfer events supplied by the app store and RevenueCat. We do not receive your full payment-card details.
• Technical information. Our hosting and authentication systems process IP addresses, device or browser information, request times, and operational or error logs to deliver and protect the service. Subscription providers also process technical information needed for their services.
• Support messages. Your contact details and any information you choose to send us when requesting help or reporting a problem.

What we do not collect

• The app does not request access to your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, or precise device location. Playing word recordings does not record your voice. IP addresses can indicate an approximate location.
• We do not serve third-party advertisements or use your learning activity for cross-app advertising. We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising.

How we use your information

We use this information to:

• create accounts, authenticate sign-ins, and save preferences;
• select and grade practice questions, schedule reviews, and save progress across devices;
• deliver and validate your LingDojo Hero subscription;
• protect accounts, prevent abuse, diagnose errors, and improve reliability;
• respond to support and privacy requests, resolve payment disputes, and meet legal obligations.

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we process account, learning, and subscription data to provide the service you request; security and support data for our legitimate interests in operating a reliable service; and information required by law to meet our legal obligations. Where consent is required, we ask for it and you may withdraw it.

Service providers

We rely on service providers to run LingDojo. Each one receives only the data it needs to perform its service:

• Cloudflare hosts this website and our API, handles requests and database connections, and stores and delivers media. It processes request data and information sent through our services.
• PlanetScale hosts our Postgres database, including account records, authentication data, learning activity, preferences, and subscription records.
• RevenueCat manages in-app subscription purchases, restoration, and entitlement validation. We use your LingDojo account identifier as its app user ID, so purchase information is linked to your account rather than anonymous. RevenueCat processes store transaction and relevant device and app information.
• Apple provides Sign in with Apple and processes App Store payments. If you purchase through another supported app store, that store processes the payment. Store providers handle billing information under their own privacy policies.
• Resend delivers account-verification emails when email verification is enabled, processing the recipient address, message, and delivery information.

We may also disclose information where necessary to comply with law, protect people's rights and safety, or handle a business transfer subject to applicable privacy protections.

Where your data is stored

Account and learning records are stored in PlanetScale Postgres, with media hosted on Cloudflare R2. Cloudflare processes requests through its global network. Our providers may process information outside your country. Where required, international transfers are subject to safeguards required by applicable data-protection law. Contact us for information about the safeguards relevant to your data.

Practice requires an internet connection: questions, grading, and progress are handled on our servers. The app keeps screen state and login credentials on your device; the iOS app stores its login credential in the device Keychain. An answer is saved only once our server confirms it.

Website and cookies

This website is a static information site. It does not have an account form, advertising trackers, or analytics scripts added by LingDojo. Cloudflare processes technical request information to serve and secure it and may use security cookies when needed. Our account services use authentication cookies or equivalent secure credentials to keep you signed in.

Retention and deletion

We retain your account, learning history, and review state while your account exists. A confirmed account deletion removes your account, login sessions, preferences, learning progress, practice records, and account-linked entitlement state from our live application database.

Deletion does not automatically erase store or RevenueCat purchase records, or our separate billing-event records used to verify transactions and prevent duplicate processing. Backups, security logs, support correspondence, and records needed for legal obligations or disputes may remain for their applicable retention periods. Retention depends on the purpose, provider policies, and legal requirements. Contact us to request deletion of any remaining personal information.

Your choices

• Sign out. Sign out from inside the App at any time. Your data stays on the server and is available the next time you sign in.
• Delete your account. In the app, open Settings → Account → Delete account and confirm. If you cannot access the app, emailhello@lingdojo.net. We may need to verify that you own the account.
• Sign in with Apple. You can manage or revoke access in your Apple Account settings. Revoking Apple access does not itself delete your LingDojo account.
• Subscription. Cancel your LingDojo Hero subscription in the store account used to purchase it. Deleting your LingDojo account or uninstalling the app does not cancel a store subscription.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal data, to restrict or object to processing, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on it. Send requests tohello@lingdojo.net. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.

Children

The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this Policy

If we change this Policy in a material way, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where required, notify you through the App.
